Flexographic and Lithographic Printing for Branded Food Packaging

If you’re looking to buy branded packaging in quantities from 30,000 units upwards, we can achieve high-volume runs either through flexographic printing or lithographic printing. Both printing methods are ideal for high-volume runs without compromising the print definition or quality.

What’s the Difference between Litho and Flexo Printing?

Flexo (flexographic) and litho (lithographic) printing are both bulk printing methods, but there are some key differences.

Lithographic Printing

  • Superior quality results compared to flexographic printing
  • Print intricate, detailed artwork
  • Achieve deep, vibrant colours
  • Higher setup costs
  • Best for higher print runs

Flexographic Printing

  • Premium quality results for minimal investment
  • Print simple, minimalist artwork
  • Achieve bold results for one or two spot colours
  • Lower setup costs
  • Best for small to medium print runs

Both methods require printing plates, which is an additional one-off cost to consider. The more complex the print and the larger the print area, the more expensive these plates are.

Choose Us for Your Litho and Flexo Printing

The print method chosen for your printed food packaging will largely depend on the complexity of your artwork, budget and product type. Lead times can vary from between 8-16 weeks, but you get some great additional benefits when buying large volumes:

Stock Hold and Call-Off Service — Once your packaging is made, we can store it for you. Whenever you need more packaging, we’ll send it to you via our next-day delivery service. This frees up storage space and eases your cash flow, as we only invoice for the stock when it’s delivered.

Inventory Management — We can help you keep track of your stock levels by setting up an agreed minimum stock figure. We’ll then contact you when your lines need to be replenished, ensuring you never run out of branded or bespoke packaging.

Remote Ordering — Log into our Managed Inventory System to keep tabs on your packaging stored in our warehouse, place orders for delivery and arrange for additional stock to be manufactured.

More About Our Flexographic and Lithographic Printing Services

Flexographic printed packaging uses relief printing directly from the artwork coated in water-based ink to your packaging so you can get impressive results within 8-16 weeks.

Flexo-printed food boxes are ideal if you need a large quantity of repeating printed patterns for your design. They’re also a great option if you’re working with a limited budget for packaging.

For text-heavy or highly detailed designs, choose lithographic printing. It’s a versatile printing method that can be used on many types of board materials, including takeaway cups and ice cream tubs.

The process uses the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) four colour process printing technique for exceptional detail and vivid results. It can make the most simple packaging designs eye-catching.
