Yes! Our eco-friendly straws are made from organic materials, and they biodegrade naturally. Plastic straws, on the other hand, contain synthetic polymers and take hundreds of years to break down, which causes great harm to our environment. When you choose compostable straws, you can rest assured that your customers will be able to dispose of your takeaway packaging responsibly and sustainably.

Due to the natural materials, biodegradable straws can be less durable than plastic, particularly when exposed to hot liquids or when used for an extended period. In these instances, they can become softer or start to break down, so they’re best suited to cold drinks and used right away.

Most compostable straws are designed to break down in natural environments, however our bamboo straws can also be recycled after use. When it comes to disposing of your biodegradable straws, check the product in question for more information and always ensure that you follow your local waste disposal guidelines.

We don’t recommend using compostable straws with hot drinks, as higher temperatures can cause them to become softer or start to break down. They’re best suited to cold drinks such as milkshakes, iced coffees, teas and soft drinks.
